In the 1930 a small village on the Sicilian sea was about to be upset by an earthquake. But, first, it will be another event to disturb the quiet of this place: the arrival of the tightrope walkers. ONLY MOZART IS MISSING (MANCA SOLO MOZART)
In Scena! 2023
Written & Directed by Antonio Grosso
Performed by Marco Simeoli
Set Design by Alessandro Chiti, Costume Design by Marco Maria Della Vecchia, Assistant Director Andrea Vellotti, Photographer Francesco Nannarelli
“I’m not coming from an artistic family, or rather, a music family, as my origins are linked to this shop, the most important in Naples from the 1920s to today. Located right in front of the glorious San Pietro a Majella conservatory, this place of culture and musical ferment has made history, and seen history passing by. All the greatest artists entered there… almost all of them, only Mozart is missing”. [Marco Simeoli]
Based on true stories of Marco Simeoli’s grandfather, founder of the most influential music store in Naples, still in business, MUSICA SIMEOLI. From documents and scores found in a store apparently abandoned and suspended in time, the history of Italy is traced. Through words and music, Marco Simeoli brings to the stage the many stories of his grandfather: Memories of the Belle Époque, the Second World War, the economic boom of the Sixties and the great illusion of the Eighties. A century comes alive together thanks to the many famous clients of Musica Simeoli, such as Totò, Roberto Murolo, Renato Carosone, Riccardo Muti, Pino Daniele and Massimo Troisi.
