Turn Saturday mornings into learning, creativity, joy and laughter. Immerse yourself in theater, language and performance! Sign up for a 10-week course on Commedia dell’Arte – the improvised Italian street theater of the Renaissance taught by renowned actress and director, Laura Caparrotti*.
In a ten-week course…explore theater…learn the basics of a new language…interact as a team…improve memory, movement, creativity and imaginative skills…learn the characters of this theater art form…write your own scripts and perform!
Requirements: your interest, curiosity and enthusiasm. All welcome and no previous theater experience is necessary to enjoy this course.

Classes held at Goddard Riverside, The Bernie Wohl Center, 647 Columbus Avenue at 91st Street.
Summary: Each class is comprised of 30 minutes instruction in the Italian language (learn the basics or improve upon what you know); the second part of the sessions covers an analysis/history of Commedia dell’Arte, its characters and theater arts. The course culminates in a forty-five minute performance by the participants.

*“A multifacetted and talented woman” (i-Italy Magazine) Laura Caparrotti, actress, director, voice-over talent, lecturer and consultant, was born in Rome and has adopted NYC as her home for the last 20 years. She holds a degree in Performing Arts from the University “La Sapienza” and has studied and performed with distinguished writers, actors and directors. Laura is Artistic Director of KIT (Kairos Italy Theater Inc.), founded to create a cultural exchange program between Italy, the United States, and the international community, and is the curator/producer of the first NYC Italian Theater Festival, In Scena, and which will be presented again in 2014.
